The Healing Art,
Elevated by Science
Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine
Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM) is a hands-on approach to healthcare that views the body as an intelligent, self-healing machine. Practiced exclusively by fully licensed physicians, OMM is based on the principle that your musculoskeletal framework directly affects your overall health.
This philosophy offers a unique perspective for diagnosis, using the physician's hands to find and treat structural imbalances known as somatic dysfunction. By gently removing these obstructions, OMM empowers your body's innate capacity to heal.

Meet Dr. Kim
True healing is both an art and a science. My journey through cellular biology research, human nutrition, and rigorous medical training provided a deep scientific foundation for my practice. This foundation doesn't replace the healing art of osteopathy—it informs and elevates it, allowing for a more precise, evidence-based, and effective hands-on approach tailored to the intricate reality of your body.

To support your healing after osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT), it’s crucial to adopt a holistic approach to your aftercare.
Start by drinking an adequate amount of room-temperature water to stay hydrated, as this helps facilitate the body’s natural healing processes.
Avoid any vigorous activities or additional treatments, such as physical therapy, massage therapy, or chiropractic care, for at least the first 24 hours to give your body time to fully integrate the benefits of the treatment. While you can resume your regular activities, it's important to take it easy and listen to your body during this initial period. Gentle movements and rest can significantly enhance your recovery.
Additionally, prioritize good quality sleep and nutrition, as these are key components of holistic health. Proper rest allows your body to repair and rejuvenate, while a balanced diet provides the necessary nutrients to support healing and overall well-being. By taking a comprehensive approach to your post-treatment care, you can optimize the benefits of OMT and promote lasting health.
The frequency of your treatment will be based on your initial evaluation.
Typically, we start with appointments every 1-2 weeks and gradually spread them out to 2-3 weeks. Our goal is to manage your health with minimal intervention and help you achieve long-term wellness.
The goal of each treatment is to give your body a push toward its normal, healthy physiological state. I am looking for progressive change with each visit. Most patients experience a meaningful shift in their body within the first few treatments; however, this doesn't always mean your symptoms will resolve in that timeframe. Once your body has stabilized and your symptoms have improved, you are welcome to continue maintenance care. I can also provide recommendations for other skilled practitioners, such as physical or massage therapists, who can help you maintain your progress.
If you have any additional questions, please email us at contact@gracejkimdo.com.

Osteopathy in Cranial Field
The delicate bones of the cranium can be compressed from birth trauma, head injuries, or even extensive dental work, restricting normal movement and leading to a variety of symptoms. By addressing these dysfunctions, OMM can help with:
-
Headaches, jaw pain (TMJ), and facial asymmetry
-
Infant sucking or latching difficulties and torticollis
-
Tinnitus, dry mouth, and sleep disturbances
-
Chronic sinus congestion, brain fog, and ear fullness due to poor lymphatic drainage

Chronic Musculoskeletal Pain
Much of the musculoskeletal pain we experience stems from postural strain from our daily lives. OMM addresses the underlying structural imbalances that cause this pain. We also provide guidance on lifestyle modifications and simple home exercises to help you maintain your body's structural integrity and prevent future issues.

Restoring Function by Correcting Structure
The relationship between structure and health is especially clear in the torso. For example, restricted ribs or tight intercostal muscles after a trauma can lead to difficulty breathing. Similarly, by addressing structural issues around the diaphragm and abdomen, OMM can help improve symptoms of GERD and digestive issues related to conditions like hiatal hernias.

Sports Injuries & Performance
For non-surgical sports injuries, OMM is an excellent option that complements physical therapy. By identifying and treating the root cause of an injury, we can help accelerate healing and enhance performance. Balancing your body’s musculoskeletal framework not only treats the current issue but also helps prevent further injury.

For Women
Chronic inflammation and congestion, especially around the menstrual cycle, can lead to bloating, discomfort, and a feeling of heaviness. This is often not fat but a stagnation of the lymphatic system. By improving this vital drainage, many women report feeling lighter and more energized. OMM can lead to a variety of improvements, including better body tone and clearer skin, helping you feel your best and enjoy the life you were given.
Unlocking Better Health Through Your Musculoskeletal System
OMM can address a wide range of conditions by treating the source of the problem, not just the symptoms.
Below are some examples of how structural imbalances can affect your health.
